  • How to pick up girls on Oktoberfest?

First, let me clarify: This is an Oktoberfest in Sydney, Australia, not in Bavaria or anywhere in Germany.

This is the first time I go to a REAL Oktoberfest, so how would it different from a regular party in a bar or club? For some reasons, it is almost impossible to find a man or woman around me to go with me, so I most likely to go alone. (I could explain this happens, but I don't think it is necessary to do so, and this has nothing to do with my social skill, which I will mention later.)

I'm GENERALLY open to meet girls from anywhere of the world, but at least for this time, I am PARTICULARLY interested in German and other German-speaking girls, especially Bavarians. Hookup is okay, but if there can be a long-term relationship, that will be even better.

Because of some morons on the other forums who love to assume this and that, I choose to clarify a few things here:

    1. My problem is not about quickly teasing or gradually interacting with women. In fact, I have been in EIGHT relationships for now at the age of 24. For me, however, I did party a lot in bars and clubs, but only recently when I moved here, I am compelled to meet girls at bars and clubs and other sorts of parties, because these are practically the only place I can meet girl and new male friends. In the last three months, I find it quite hard, since it was always like we had to yell at each other three times to know what the others are talking. Very frustrating.

    2. Don't tell me she lives in another part of the world. Many Germans are here for study or work, so even if they are on temporary visa, it is still fairly long-term.

    3. I'm not in a dating app. (a) It is not good for social interaction & (b) there are much less hot women on dating apps than in real life, and these two reasons alone repel me from going there.

So how to approach women as a guy going alone in such a big fest, both regarding interacting in a NOISY environment and logistics, like what to bring, wear, etc?

You would pursue in the same way you would at any bar scene. If she's receptive then buy her a beer and offer her your Bratwurst.

I wouldn't classify an Oktoberfest that's not in Germany as a real Oktoberfest. But yes Germans living locally will flock there.

If you want to experience the real deal, why not go to Germany? You do have 3 months to plan it???

And since you have had EIGHT "relationships" by the age of 24, I wonder what your longest was and what you consider a relationship as opposed to someone you are merely dating?
And since you expect to go to this event alone in THREE months time, I have to wonder about not your self confessed social skills but your ability to form relationships of all sorts. Platonic friendships etc?

Sorry but to ask how you can pick up girls at an event 3 months away seems bizarre.
Why don't you concentrate on making platonic friendships in the meantime , because being with friends in a crowd is much more attractive to anyone else than being there alone.

Normally my relationship lasted 6-8 months, and 2 lasted more than 1 year. Yes, I admit that I suck at maintaining relationship.

Those relationships all involved kissing on lips and necks and ears as well as touching legs under skirt, etc, and when I got older, they involved sex, so I have no reason to classify them as platonic or dating (seriously who call a relationship for 6-8 months with having sex a "date")?

Dude, why do you ASSUME I CAN GO TO GERMANY AT ANY TIME? My semester will be already began at that time, so I can't miss my classes during the week by going to Bavaria, let alone the professional certification exams shortly before and after the fest. I have all sorts of things to plan, and YOU CERTAINLY DON'T KNOW HOW HEAVY THE ACTUARIAL SCIENCE IS WHEN SEMESTER IS ON. By the way, the 1st event starts in early September here.

Do you think it will be good to be distracted for planning a party? And do you think everyone can have a holiday abroad whenever he wants? Or you are a guy with no job and on welfare? Probably an illegal "immigrant"? Oh that makes a lot of sense.

And like I said, going to bar/club is simply not a very comfortable way for me, not for now at least. Every time I went to a bar, after a few yelling under the noisy music, I felt losing voice. I already lost a lot of mood at that point.

And a reminder to you, an Oktoberfest can be considered expensive for a lot of students. As a frequenter of pub crawl, I have met a lot of students saying they rarely do that because of the cost, and several times they declined invitations (from either me or others) for the aforementioned reason. Yes, I do make friends in bars/pubs from time to time, but most of them will not go to bar/pub again in months, while some others buy crap-like alcohols from liquor stores and host a party in their own buildings. I felt like drinking pee in those parties.

So learn to think/imagine about others' situation before you talk with your big mouth. Start with understanding why a lot of people can't go to Germany whenever they want.

I was a uni student for 7 years. I lived it and loved it.
I live in Sydney now and Oktoberfest here is end of October as opposed to Germany's which begins in sept and ends in October.
Im European and not an illegal immigrant.

You could stop frequenting pub crawls for 3 months and have the funds to go overseas, whenever it suits you. That's your priority.

And when I mentioned developing platonic friendships so you don't go alone to such events, I meant making friends.

My suggestion of experiencing a REAL Oktoberfest was to actually experience it. Be it this year or next.
The one in Sydney is not even close.

Good luck with planning your night for 3 months away.
            I don't get it. Sorry!

LET ME STREAMLINE MY QUESTION HERE:

              1. How do you guys keep interacting with people in noisy places? I tend to lose my voice quite quickly, so as a result, I tend to lose my mood before knowing a lot of girls. (I prefer to go around different tables and know as much people as I can, but I just can't do it with a cracked voice and mood.) So it's much harder to establish connections. Any way to counter this cracked-voice effect? (Yes, hookup is still okay, but even for that I still feel not good, if I am couching so much.)

              2. Is having a wing man important for parties? I know it's not important for approaching a girl in normal scenarios, so maybe not **that** important in parties?

                Bring throat lozenges.
Make friends so you don't go alone in future.
Make those friends at uni, sporting events, hobbies.
Interact with girls you meet through those friends rather than bar hopping.
Go to quieter bars (heaps in Sydney)
No, you don't need a wingman , but a guy out socialising with friends is much more attractive than a guy out by himself.
A group of guys can join a group of girls much easier than one guy trying to infiltrate a group of girlfriends who will likely label you as a creep.

First of all, sorry man, I think I kind of misread some of your comments.

Thank you for your suggestions. I will try to change a bit of my strategies.
