How do I eliminate the 25 notifications that result from an advertising troll?

I'm sharing your frustration Sarah as I click through threads thinking that someone has replied to us, only to find it's the same person over and over again just advertising their bullshit.
Unfortunately I've no idea how the notifications stuff works though. I've got 88 messages here from 'Subscriptions' even though they all seem to be from threads I have never visited, let alone threads or users I have 'subscribed' to!
Just because someone's by your side, it doesn't mean they're on your side. -
