I have never worn braces. Though I don't have completely ugly teeth and am not shy to go full blown smile, they are not perfect. I have a canine that sticks out a bit and my bite has always been off. By off I mean I've always had a bit of an overbite, that's also a bit to the left.
About a month ago, I experienced this pain around my ear whenever chewing. I thought I was just grinding in my sleep again, so I didn't seek professional opinion. One side effect of this pain was that I could only comfortably clench my jaw by getting rid of the overbite - For a whole day, I would line up my incisors without the molars touching.
But now that my earache is gone, I could only now comfortably place my jaw in this position! I think I managed to move my incisors to the point that they won't allow me to clench my jaw with the molars touching! It's quite pronounced to the point that if I force it, I'm pushing my upper incisors outwards.
I'll go ask my dentist during my scheduled cleaning, but I thought I'd ask here if anyone's had this. It's really weird and uncomfortable. For the better part of the day, I feel like a slack jawed yokel, having to relax my jaw and avoiding closing at any cost - nevermind clenching - into what was my normal position prior to my earache.
