Star of Shadows

It is common, yet rare.
It happens all the time, yet is impossible to find.
Like a shadow avoiding the dawn,
It stays invisible, just out of reach.
But when uncovered, 'tis a shadow no more.
No, not a shadow, but a shining star,
Blinding all reason and incinerating fear.
It will hold the heart in infinite rapture,
Never fading in brilliance.
It will open doors, and demolish barriers,
For it scorns all opposition.
Some would call it the driving force of the universe,
While others dismiss it as worthless,
And live unhappily in loneliness.
This insistent star of shadows,
This reticent saviour of the lonely,
Is the amazing force we call love.

Criticism greatly appreciated (constructive, of course).
