Artistic Landmines
When we met you were so right,
I'd see you everyday, dream of you every night.
You'd make me want to get up,
When the world was keeping me down.
You'd make me see this better place,
And kiss away my frown.
You gave me hope and inspired art,
With perspective I never thought.
You shun light upon my darkest fears,
And side with me when my conscience fought.
But deep down you were my devil,
And brought about a twisted clone.
While in a crowd of all my friends,
I was now always alone.
Your like the landmine,
Your like the bomb.
Ticking away now, for far too long.
I can only guess when your out of fuse,
Your explosion mirrored through your abuse.
An unsteady step, a gambled leap,
Those baby foothills you've made too steep,
I'm falling down,
Onto a mine...
It's now just become a matter of time.
You changed me...
And the roller coaster had already begun,
I couldn't get off I had nowhere to run.
I heard you screaming,
I thought it was joy,
I thought you were happy.
I thought it was the feeling of falling through air,
From the highest drop we fell freefall.
Was it love?
We were two opposites who connected as a pair.
On our roller coaster...
But, there was no thrilling corner or a hill we'd soon climb,
This wasn't the pause before a comedian's catch line.
We'd just hit the ground and you got out of your seat,
And as this different person I couldn't find my new feet.
You had just gone, and left me alone,
I'd rejected my friends, pulled the cord from my phone.
There was no more of your pretty face,
No relics left behind, no footprints to trace.
I could start again.
But...
Your like the landmine,
Your like the bomb.
Ticking away now, for far too long.
I can only guess when your out of fuse,
Your explosion mirrored through your abuse.
An unsteady step, a gambled leap,
Those baby foothills you've made too steep,
I'm falling down,
Onto a mine...
It's now just become a matter of time.
Then I woke up there was no more.
Just you knocking at my front door,
It wasn't long til we got together,
And I felt everything that I felt before.
In that pretty face,
Deep in your eyes,
You shared with me...
So many lies,
I felt so very special,
To call you my own,
Your one of a kind unique...
Precious like a priceless antique.
But you were an artist,
And blinded my sight,
Disguised your appearance.
Hid in the shadows of night...
Your like the landmine,
Your like the bomb.
Ticking away now, for far too long.
I can only guess when your out of fuse,
Your explosion mirrored through your abuse.
An unsteady step, a gambled leap,
Those baby foothills you've made too steep,
I'm falling down,
