Out of curiosity, what was your favorite or "best" job you had when you were a teenager? As in perks or just fun time or put whatever reason you want. Or any job you had for that matter and what was good and bad about it.

I realize summer is over. I'm beginning my research EARLY for next summer. I refuse to be a lifeguard again, even though the job requires minimal work (at least at the pool I worked at). It's finally time I think about preventing skin cancer. But this isn't all about me... it's about us all and our "fun" work experiences.

Thanks, though.

I was assembling PC boards for my dad as a kid. Pay was pretty good actually hehe.

I've worked at a busy restaurant as a dishwasher. That was SO not fun. Yeah, when the bosses leave we goof off as we work and such, but the job is so shitty it's not worth it. Free food was a bonus though.

I've worked at a pizza place, which wasn't so bad for most of the time, except for grinding breadcrumbs and hauling beer from the basement (4 feet high with pipes and shit everywhere). Making pizza can be entertaining enough. Free food is a huge bonus here, as when we'd have a break in orders, I'd sit there munching on free wings. The bosses were assholes, and I quit because of them, but otherwise I would've kept the job.

I workd for Starbucks for a year and it wasn't half bad. True it is super cooperate and taking over the world and the coffee costs a lot ya ya ya ya. It is the people that made it fun. Making coffee is a fine art once you get into it and I loved making beautiful lattes and cappucinos and wish that they had more room for creativity. We had this major problem with managers so for most of my time there everything was changing, from the shelving to the guy making the schedule. But benefits....amazing. Free pound of coffee every week, free drinks while on shift (and off if the right people were there), stock options if you were old enough and so much more.

Customers were also great. Regulars made the job great because they would come in and smile and talk and ask you about school, I am really close to some of them. Plus, all hot guys love a barista flirting with them (best pick up line: I like the way you foam my milk). All in all, I liked it and miss it. I would consider going back but they are going super coorperate, really cracking down on individuality (even though that is something they preach in training) so I don't think it is worth it.

Yeah, one place I would NOT like to work, Coldstone Creamery. Poor bastards have to singevery time someone drops a tip in the bucket, it makes me sick.

Both my best and worst job were the same job.

Telemarketing 5 hours a day.

Best becuase: 8 bucks an hour plus commission to sit at a desk and do homework. Boss was a total pothead so all we ever did was smoke on the job. Getting stoned and calling people's houses is amazing. Drinking on the job every Friday when sales were good. Sweet atmosphere cause there was no pressure.

Worst because: Telemarketing, 5 hours a day.

What's a job? lol jk jk

Best summer job....I'd have to say my co-op that I had last summer....I sat in the office all day (which actually kinda sucked cuz I didn't even have a window to look out from) and transferred webpages over from the Hamilton website to their new Portal system (portal system...its like a hard drive where you can find anything and everything about hamilton on it).

Worst summer job.....not having one.....*cries* my poor finances....my poor poor finances!

my favourite job was delivering pizzas. i mean really, it's not that bad...and i just enjoy driving. the bad parts about it is that it's a lot of wear and tear on a car, but i enjoyed it none the less.

Isn't the pizza delivery place supposed to cover part of that? I know they pay for gas, right?

Did you car smell like pizza all the time?

Worst Job: Working as a waitress in an uppity retirement community (18-19)
- Sucky pay with no tips
- Working with retarded 15 year olds who have their heads shoved up their asses and think that the world owes them something

Best Job: Working as a dietary manager in the same retirement community
- Sitting on my ass doing medical charting and getting paid to read a book or roam around talking to the sweet residents
- Pay was a little bit better but still not what I'm worth. :P

pay depends on the place. i prefer the comission type pay, like $3/delivery. you add in tips, you're normally making 5.50/delivery so drive a small car and you've got a lot of cleared money there.

my car? well, when i workled for verns pizza, i bought an air freshener every week. but when i worked for homers, it was no problem. the difference? homers used pizza bags, verns the pizzas sat out. sure there's gonig to be a bit of a smell, but that's what those cardboard trees are for.

I have a friend who works there, and their boss told them they're not allowed to sing anymore because people complained.

Oh yeah, and my WORST job was when I was working for the janitor at my old apartment building. It was highly part time (like, just once a week), and it involved vacuuming all 6 floors of an apartment building and mopping both stairwells and the laundry area. Made me want to work hard at school to not end up there after graduation .

Best job in terms of perks was an internship at brewery. I got free beer, free tickets to an amusement park, and insane pay. It wasn't my kind of place though and I couldn't wait for the internship to end.

Favorite job overall was a landscaping job I had at my college. It just paid minimum but it was great to be outside all day and stay in shape with nice tan. Plus I got to ride around on a golf cart and check out hot girls for a good portion of the day.

My favorite job was not a real money maker. I'm not the business type, but I worked with Vector Marketing the summer prior (as in 2004). Sales, w00t. First I'll get the bad stuff out of the way. I made not more than $1200 between May and August that summer, though the work I did was remarkable. Appointment-based only, I had 33 presentations overall and I got commission or base-pay by the week, whichever was higher. So that's around $36 per hour of actual "work," and I had more fun if I was staying longer than that.

Now the perks. That's right, I had fun for every dime I made. I also ended with one of the highest sales ratios in our office. Official part-time work for this company was five appointments per week...I don't think I made that quota once. For starters, in the interview, I beat out someone from my school who, in my experience, was more confident and was better qualified overall. That's a confidence booster. Now the people. Everyone I've worked with was just plain awesome. It's the only workplace where I was not on ambiguous terms with someone in the office. Everyone got along really well. I went along to some of their appointments and got credited for it, in addition to having fun. My manager never flipped about anything, and she's a very good motivator. The conferences we had were a blast. I went to Syracuse four times and Detroit once. Met some awesome people, had A LOT of fun. Not many corporate meetings I know spend the time waiting by bouncing beach balls around the room and just having fun talking with others.

Of course, there are others, though this is getting pretty long.

My favorite job has been being a computer technician at the college, and I'll have been doing that same thing for two years this month. The people I work with are awesome folks and make it easy to stay there.

My worst job was working at RadioShack, where you were required to attach cell phones to resistor sales. Didn't exactly work out that way. The pay's much better at my current job.

Worst Job: Bouncer in a Lesbian Bar. Guys, I am here to tell you; Lesbians are NOT what Howard Stern and porn flics would have you believe. We are talking about some of the UGLIEST women on this (or any other) planet. All I can say is,"THANK GOD they were LESBIANS". Most all were friendly enough, but if any of them had put the moves on ME, YUK! Puke City! Try to immagine KD Lang weighing 350 pounds! Zoiks!!

Best Job? Humm. Since I haven't yet found one where beautiful, naked, Orion Slave-Girls dance for me and feed me grapes, I'll have to pass.

Yea I don't know what the hell you people are talking about, I've never once worked at a job i could tolerate let alone like.

Worst job thus far though was definitely waiting tables. So many rich (and cheap) assholes thinking they were dining at a 5 star restaurant that served the menu fucking ala carte. It was goddam Red Lobster! Go to the Safeway down the street, buy some van de camp's frozen fish sticks and you're basically consuming the same thing. Morons.

I stayed at it for like 3 months before i finally lost it, told off a customer, and left never to be seen again. Never, ever, EVER will I do that job again in my lifetime. I'd rather be a janitor.

If you can't tell, I'm not much of a people person.

My first job was assembling PC board as my bro did, that was when I was somewhere around 3 years old? I'm a teen now, so I'm gonna get my first real job playing the organ for a church, I think I'll enjoy it because I love playing the piano and I've been doing is for two years soon. And I'll finally be getting some extra money, about 50$ a week for playing at the sunday morning mass.

I definitely worked at coldstone. I must say that I loved it. I worked on weekday mornings so we just sat around. I ended up getting promoted to assistant manager but I had to quit b/c while working there I found out that my wrists are bad. I ended up wearing braces on my wrists every night. My health was more important to me. But it was a lot of fun. And free ice cream is amazing. We didn’t sing really b/c it was the morning and our customers were either older, or business people, or kids skipping school. And the tips were good in the morning. It was another kid and I and we'd take home around $7-10 a day.

Worst job? A small toy store, the Learning Express. Let me just say that the day a kid took a shit on our carpet was the day I decided to quit. I hated the management and the fat bitch owner.
