Okay, so sometime in the downtime of this forum I pretty much have gone strictly vegetarian.
Basically, I'm looking to see if anybody has any recipes. I'm finding myeslf at a loss on what to cook for lunch/dinner on a daily basis, and I'm on week 3. You can only eat steamed vegetables so many times before you lose your mind.

It's kinda hard what recipes to give...what kind of a vegetarian are you? Are you a vegan (no meat-based products, dairy, or eggs)? Or are only specific ones of those foods not part of your diet?

Basically I'm sticking with the milk and the chees, and keeping eggs for every once in a great while, and for baking type dishes where it's just sort of an important ingredient. More or less I'm going with absolutely no meat based products whatsoever, and maybe even phasing out the dairy and eggs eventually.
I dunno, the recipe thing is kinda vague, perhaps just an idea or two? Or am I expecting too much lol.
It's a good thing I love hummus.

There's this miraculous invention called the search engine. Or a local book store.

BoG have you considered anti-depressants? Anything like that? No need to be such a bitch ALL the time. It's not our fault daddy didn't love you.
I don't pay for books, thanks, and I suppose that yes I probably should search the internet. Thanks for bestowing that wisdom upon me. You've been GREAT.

Don't take it out on me because you can't think of an obvious solution. That lack of animal protein is taking its toll already.

I've not taken anything out on you my dear, just simply calling it as I see it. If you don't like it, please, feel free to fuck off :)
Although as a sidenote, i really feel bad that you're such a bitchy individual. Is it a lonely existence?

For every animal you don't eat, I'll eat three. (http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=sponsor)
I want steak.

what about fish/seafood? some people don't consider that "meat"
I don't think I could live without shrimp...
here are some simple "cook it, eat it in 40 minutes" recipes that I use as a student
mushrooms fried in butter is HEAVENLY. try mixing up the variety. Oyster mushroom sare relatively cheap and are AMAZING.
Peppers. I LIVE off peppers. fry them in cooking spray and bit of water, and add garlic paste. roll in oil and roast on a cookie tray. it's like... candy vegetable!
perogies are your friend. boil'em, fry'em (oil) they fucking rock.
or you could always live off chocolate.

Well, animals = meat in my definition. I don't see how it can be rationalized otherwise, but whatever.

I'm glad somebody else saw that, those things scare the living crap out of me.
I'm really concentrating on the poultry and red meat more than anything, for various moral and ethical reasons which keep me from wanting to endorse the industry.
Fish/seafood now and then I suppose wouldn't be too terrible, but i'm trying to stick with the other. Been going on 3 weeks now.

If i ever went vege stylez, I would only eat stir fry, STIR FRY RULES! pasta, and veggies, no meat. Try something out. I know you can go to the store and get stir fry sauce, whether you want terryaki or a chili sauce, get some angelhair pasta, carrots, broccoli, and whatever else and cook it up. its good eatin

im not trying to knock the thai, but all the thai food i've had, including pad thai is yucky to me. Maybe im just not feeling the peanuts in peanut sauce with peanut butter and bits of peanuts mixed with peanuts...but hey if ya like it! WOO!
::cough:: stir fry owns u ::cough::

You don't need to put peanut sauce on it by the way... In fact, it's seldom served with peanut sauce (just with crushed peanuts for effect).

I'd say keep dairy in. I haven't eaten meat in ages, but dairy is way easier to get you all the essential aminoacids than mixing various vegetables every time - ok, you can just eat those vegetarian nuggets and stuff, but cheese is good! :agree:

Aye, I don't really think there's any reason to stay away from milk and such other than it's not the most easily digestable substance in the world.
But yes, suprisingly enough as a long time carnivore i don't even miss the meat so much, more the convenience than anything.

keep the cheese. See, I torture myself my not eating cheese in order to lose weight. If you stop eating cheese, but still CAN, well then, I'll just be angry. SOMEONE has to support the cheese market in my place!

As gay as it sounds, we have diet cheese here. It smells and tastes like the other cheese, but usually there's half the fat and double the protein.

If you like zucchini it is a wonderful staple for vegetarians, or so I am told. You can do pretty much anything with it, fry, chop, bake, raw, boil etc etc etc. I think it is gross but apparently it works.
