So i was talking to my bf the other day, and he mentioned that a friend of his asked him what his 5 year plan was, so i decided to see what everyone else had planned as well.

Ive thought about it a bit, and depending on my financial situation, in the next 5 years id like to:
-Finish school
-Get married
-Have my first kid
-Buy a house

Seems like a lot to do in only 5 years, but nothings impossible.

So what about everyone else?? What do you hope to do in the next 5 years??

My 5-year plan:
-Finish college
-Graduate from Law School
-Be living with my girlfriend (wonderful girl, wonderful relationship... wouldn't give it up for the world. Distance, however, sucks)
-Be living in a major city somewhere, practicing Law... or working for a non-profit.

Oh...too many things to list. haha.
-finish school w/ my major in Broadcast Management and minor in Poli Sci
-Possibly get married(though it'd be quite early...), or be in an amazing and fulfilling relationship
-Get my starting job either with a big company with NBC, Disney, etc, doing stuff like looking at pilots, being creative. OR at a news station(though it'd start out small). OR (preferably if I'm married and I have a financial situation I can depend on) work on getting involved in politics. One of the first two is much more likely!
-Have my own house...not apartment but house.

Am I tight or not?

Hmm...a five year plane? My life has changed so drastically in half a year that it would be near impossible for me to predict five years. Though I can't actually think of much I want to accomplish. This would be about it...

-Finish my bachelors degree.
-Find/keep a job that pays enough for me to survive.
-Read a shitload of books.

Hmm...that's a pretty crappy list now that I look at it. Maybe I'll go back to school after my bachelors degree (In a totally unrelated field). I honestly don't have a lot of big goals. I already accomplished a few of my major ones, such as getting a computer job and moving into an apartment. I see no need to own a house. Beyond that it's pretty much just my goal to learn/read as much as I can in what interests me. I have a very long (Wishful thinking there) and boring life ahead of me it seems, lol.

I honestly don't think I can accurately predict five years from now anymore. I sure didn't do a good job coming out of high school predicting it. You really never know what changeups and curveballs life will throw you.

Here's mine!

Graduate college
Work with radical leftists
Nationalize public utilities and healthcare
Completely transform the entire US government while ending capitalism

Yep, I should have that all done by the time I'm 28! haha ;)

Five year plan? Geez, I could find ways to screw up a five minute plan. I tried planning ahead, but in all honesty, nothing ever worked out the way I thought (or hoped) it would. So I don't bother thinking ahead as to where I'll be at some point down the road.

It is 2005. Five years would be 2010. I’ll be 23. (Wow.)

As far as school/career:
By spring of 2008 I plan to have my BA done. I’ll be 21. (Then I’ll begin my masters program of 7 semesters.) So in 2010 I my masters almost done.

As far my personal/love life:
I’ll been with my current boyfriend for two years. (Yay for us.) I really think we're going to last a while, so I hope to still be with him. In 2010 he'll be 27. God willing, we'll have a home. I don't know what will happen as far as marriage. We’ve talked about it and he says he wants to marry me (of course when we're a little more "grown up".) but because of school I don’t know where 'marriage' would fit in. I guess that’s something that we'll have to wait to see how things play out. I’ll still be young for marriage (23) but he'll be 27. (Wow. I guess I haven’t thought of it in terms of "when I’m __ years old, he'll be __")

As far as family:
I doubt I’ll have kids by then. Actually I really hope I don’t have kids by then. ::taking precautions... i.e. taking b/c pills::

As far as where I’ll live:
I already mentioned I hope to still be with my current boyfriend. God willing, we'll have a home. I’m not sure where. Of course it would have to be somewhere around my schooling. But when I go to grad school I can transfer to where ever. So I don’t know where we'll end up.

My puppy love:
My dog is a huge part of my life and in 5 years he will be 6 years old. And he will be with me where ever I go.

Ok...sorry I REALLY got into that. hehe.

Deidre's 5 Year Plan

Move in with the boyfriend.
Been on waiting lists for over a year now, and if no one cancels their lease before Friday the earliest date we're even allowed to move in together is February 1st. I'm starting to worry that in 5 years we'll still not be living together.
Summer 2006 : Expensive Archaeology Fieldschool
June 2007 : Defend MA dissertation
lest the pan-EU standardisation of higher education gets in the way, in which case I'll defend my MA dissertation in 2009, or something like that. :crybaby:
Summer 2007: Pray that a PhD position opens up locally and/or apply all over the place.
Summer 2007: Realize I'm too tired to go straight for a PhD. Decide to work instead for a while.
Summer 2007: Realize there is no such thing as work for a Classical Archaeologist. Go back to undergrad and add a course in GIS to my degree so I'll be eligable to work in any type of cultural sector.
Work on the PhD. Drool over farmsteads out in the countryside and dream of actually being able to go and live there -- one day, when that PhD is done.

This year I want to finish up community college and transfer to a school up in Virginia. For the next two years I'll be working on getting my BA in something (still trying to figure that one out). OH, how can I forget? Finish my new 1968 Camaro. Hopefully I can get that done in two years. That all depends on money. After graduating from Radford I've been wanting to go into the Marine Corps. That will be the end of my five years.

I don't see myself having any kids or a wife in five years. Hopefully I'll have a house of my own or atleast looking for one. Its kinda scary to think I'll be 25. I mean I'm 20 now and to think I've probably already lived a quarter of my life is something else. Kinda depressing... Anyway, to sum it all up I'll be an officer in the Marine Corps at the end of five years from now.

Hmmm, was talking about this with my then ladyfriend not long ago.
Was more vague than five years but oh well.
Start and finish my design training at work.
Go onto level/character design.
Start pitching ideas.
Finally get my own project or assist one.
Then when all that's done (or maybe during!) move abroad for some work for a bit.
Oh and loads of relationship stuff in there too...but not wanting to think about relationships at the moment!

I noticed most people elaborated a bit on what they said, so Im going to do the same.

1) Finish school: Right now Im in the first year of a three year program. When i graduate from that, I do two more years at another school to get my bachelors degree in commerce. The two years ill probably do correspondence. That ties in with having my first kid...

2) Get married: Me and my bf have talked about getting married in the next two years. I honestly cant wait to get married to him. Love him mroe than anything in the world.

3) Have my first kid: So like I said, Id like to do the last 2 years correspondence. Id like to have my first kid during this time. Sounds kinda hectic, busy, hard to handle all at once, but I would love to do it that way and actually be able to be home for 2 years rather than ship my kid off to daycare. Not saying theres anything wrong with it, i went to daycare and I loved it, but I want to be at home. My boyfriends a bit older too. By that time he'll be 29.

4) Buy a house: Oh yes...so my boyfriend brought this up yesterday actually. We've been looking for an apartment, and in the city we live in, its almost cheaper just to buy. We've been having such a hard time finding an apartment, that buying a house next summer or so doesnt sound like such a bad idea.

Being that this is my first year of college I really can't say much....

1) Most definately be out of college with a degree in Psychology at least. Which would lead to a masters program somewhere.
2)Have found my calling in life, or at least my calling of the moment
3)Have some kind of relationship that is not in limbo, hopefully with my Matt.
4)Have become the person I want to be, ie off anti-depressants and anti-anxieties for Generalized Anxiety Disorder, made good, long term friends who I can trust, worked more on tolerance, knowlege, religious base, etc etc.

That really is as much as I can think of. I don't want to plan too far a head because that breeds anxiety

Find out what to do after getting my diploma.

Oh, start thinking about retirement. :cool3:
...
...and of course, live the adventure. :cool3:

Oh, yeah, find some nice, kind and crazy girl to make loads of Mini-mes to take over the world.

Let's see.....

1. Advance in my career.
2. Have things to add to my resume like certifications or maybe a Masters degree.
3. Have my 2nd car.
4. Have completed all my projects on my Eclipse (make it a show car).
5. Have bought or getting ready to buy my first place.
6. Hopefully built up my savings again since I've recently had to dig into it. :(
7. Start to travel a bit and see the world.

Well since I'm going to school next fall (fucking about time) and going pre-law as it is, in 5 years I hope to have not failed college.

Sadly I'll be a 23 year old college freshman.

1. figure out what i want to do...don't really know anymore, career wise anyway
2. get married, maybe...i'm not in a hurry and since planning isn't my forte we will have to figure something out. i'd like to do a really small destination wedding in vegas. maybe six to ten people.
3. tummy tuck i'd kill to get rid of my saggy extra skin
4. move into a place with just me, the fiance and the dogs (multiple now, as we have found another shih tzu)
