I just started driving a couple of months ago. My parents bought me a brand new white civic and today I accidently and stupidly made the bumper un-white by ramming into a parked car.

Stupid Stupid. I know.

Anyway, I did this by trying to back out of a parking spot while not backing into the person that was waiting behind me so that they could have my parking spot. I suppose I should learn to be more aggresive and I should have told them to move their ass so I could back up more. But I didn't. I thought I had enough room. So, I had backed up and I was turning the wheel left to exit.. I thought I have backed up far enough to avoid hitting the car that was parked to my left.. but I hadn't. My front bumper (right under the light on the front of the car) got hooked underneath of a Ford Explorer bumper and went scraaaaape.

So I have about three or four one inch long black spots on my bumper from the paint being taken off. Luckily there aren't really any *dents* but I'm sure i'll probably have to take it in to get re painted. I don't think buying touch up paint and doing it myself would look very good.

It was minor.. but it was the first problem I've ever run into and it upset me so much. I was scared to come home and tell my mom.

I still feel so stupid and I can't stop thinking about it.

Hmm.. I know it varies on where you live and where you go, but does anyone know about how much it'd cost to get the bumper re painted?

if you have it done professionally they'll repaint the entire bumper. i'm going to guess several hundred dollars. more than 200 to around 500 maybe.

i messed up my front bumper & hood right after i got my car & the estimate to repaint the hood & front bumper was around $1200.

if i were you, i'd just get some touch up paint & leave it be.

I agree with above.

Move your ass over to an Advanced Autoparts. THey'll have an aisle with touch up spray paint jobbers.

It's not GREAT, but it's cheap.

Don't get the nail polish/pen things, do spend the extra few bucks for the spray. The nail polish thingies look straight up ghetto, while the spray paint looks like a step above crap. Being a civic, you'll find a pretty perfect match.

If you do decide to get it professionally done, don't go to any discount place. Before I owned my crappy car, you can tell one of the previous several owners got a $200 Maaco special because of the drip marks running down my passenger side.
