I just heard about this courtesy of the BBC World Service (via CBC as replacement programming during the lockout). It's a cool concept, and there's some interesting stuff on there.

Just when you think blogs couldn't get any more emo, you're proven wrong.

I heard about this site on an NPR program. I really don't think you can go through it without being touched in some way.

That's just what the people send in. There are a few happy ones.

That was interesting. I wonder how many of them are actually real though. I'm sure most of them are, but I'd like to know which ones were fabricated just to appear dramatic.

"I have made six postcards, all with secrets that I was afraid to tell the one person I tell everything to, my boyfriend. This morning I planned to mail them, but instead I left them on the pillow next to his head while he was sleeping. 10 minutes ago he arrived at my office and asked me to marry him. I said yes."

that one's better than any of the others

What a cool site. It's funny how so many of those statements are true for so many people; just shows we're all going through the same stuff.

Sounds like a snail-mail version of Group Hug (http://grouphug.us). Those are some really creative postcards.

didn't someone do a music video was a bunch of those postcards on it? Simple Plan maybe? I dunno......they seem really familiar, and I've never even heard of that site before....

That's the band/song you're thinking of, and they really helped popularize the site.

I don't disagree with you, but there are other things to consider.
Some of the secrets on there are about death/suicide, murder, extremely hurtful breakups. That will hold a lot of weight on you if you are carrying that around. Maybe some people found this creating of postcards theraputic, so they took a lot of time and effort into making it. Not to mention, they are letting go of this secret...it's a big thing for some of them, so again...they take a lot of time and effort into it.
I'm not disagreeing with you, but I'm saying I can see why some of them are well crafted and put together.

What's the difference between a cliche and a universal human condition? I think a lot of these things may sound familiar because they are things that people feel often and strongly.

I've seen the group hug thing before.. but not this one.
Interesting. I too wonder how much of it is actually real.

I don't even mind the idea, it's just a bit melodramatic.
I suppose where the guy placed the info (libraries and book stores and such) would get this kind of crowd to respond tho
