Someone sent this to me. I'm not sure if it's real, but if it is... damn, that's the most fucked up left turn I've ever seen!

Wow, that's interesting.
It's probably a true representation due to the fact that many developing countries have the same problem. For example, downtown Mexico is very similar. When a city is growing insanely fast ina short amount of time, transportation routes end up very pandimonious.
The map is pretty cool besides that. I'm a Russian major, so I can read the names of the streets on that map!

Someone with time on their hands should try to find a satellite image of this thing with google maps (or google earth - that thing owns!)

Hi, I am just back from 2 weeks of visiting Moscow and St. Petersburg so I can assure you, that highways around Moscow are pretty wild. And don't even mention the driving habits...
While I do not speak Russian, I can read a bit of Cyril.
The horizontal road on top is Ulitsa Polikarpova, Ulitsa just means road or street. And on the bottom right corner is Ulitsa 1905 Goda. I am sure that is referring to the 1905 ressurection. In the middle is Horoshevskoy Shosse, the Shosse also means street or road.
I am curious how you found the google earth pic. What did you search for?
Haha, by some googling for maps I just found out, that I walked on the Street named Horoshevskoy Shosse only few 100 meters west of that piece of map you have.

I think it's CHoroshevskoy Shosse, with CH being like the scottish or german ch.
:shifty:
(There's no H in russian and foreign words with H are given with a G, e.g. Harry becomes Garry)

One of the worst driving experiences i've ever had was during my recent trip to boston. If you all have ever been there, I was staying right on commonwealth ave, and had no idea where i was going. The night I was leaving, I find out they have 93 (pretty much the only route in and out of the city) completely closed down. I was lost for, no joke, 2 and a half hours. Terrible.
Also, rotaries suck a nut.

Try Pittsburgh. You can see where you want to go, but...you can't get there.

Having just come back from a small circuit in the states (NY, washington dc, virginia beach), I can tell you that the highway roadsigns are ass-backwards in the states .

wow....that's intense. It's a roundabout on steroids. The start point and end point are only a couple of yards away! They could've just built a little bridge/ramp edifice because that's just wasteful! Meh, I wonder who they're hiring as our highway architects/engineers or whatever those people are called....
