Some watermelon fun...

Just a link to my blog... I'm to lazy to copy and past it all... And the format is so much better with nice clickable pictures. So, enjoy my melon horrorfest => drawing a face on a melon makes it sometimes very uncomfortable to put knifes into the thing.

I've done this before and SORT of had some success.
The only problem was that the vodka did not really equally distribute itself throught the watermelon. Some parts tasted just like straight up vodka, other parts were just right and then other parts had almost no vodka whatsoever.

I did it once with my roomies, but we didn't do it long enough in advance, so it was mushy. Still, it did the job of making a LOT of vodka seem like a little bit of vodka when consumed, until the effects kicked in =).

Yeah the more time you have for this, the better it will turn out.

I always wanted to try that. Not terribly fond of watermelon though. But I don't see it working well with any other sort of fruit.

how much vodka can a watermelon contain ? cos i mean, if it's like one bottle, you'll need to eat it with 2 people to get drunk, and thats a lot of watermelon to eat

Actually, watermelon goes down surprisingly easily :-). It's about one bottle or so. Could possibly hold a lot more. Haven't experimented with that.

Maybe if you turned the melon so that the vodka would trickle equally....?

You have to turn the melon as you do it. Evens it up.

A friend of a friend of mine (yeah i know) had access to one of those fruit injection needle things, due to his parents' work. He grew a watermelon from scratch, and every day/week/whatever, he injected a bit of vodka. Now that's what I call preparation!

By the way, how can you tell that a watermelon is good/ripe for buying? Just knock, and if it kinda sounds hollow, it's good? What about the outside colour? Does it have to be darkish, or can it be tasty still if the outside is slightly yellowish?
