Ok, so my brother and I spotted a nice 95 Camaro Z28 at a used car place. It was canadian though, and everything was in metric! The "voltage" or battery power was measured in kPa...... wtf is that? It had 98,000 km on it... is that like 60-something-thousand miles?
He isnt gonna buy it, but was just curious.

Google (http://www.google.ca) does metric/imperial conversions.
e.g.
1.6 kilometres in miles
17 litres in gallons
15423 ml in quarts
etc.

kPa? isn't that kilopascals? a measurement of air pressure? Kwh is a killowatthour, but i haven't heard of it being used in automotive electrical. normally it's just things like cold cranking amps (CCA). well, that appears on the battery. i'm pretty sure it's generally 12 volts DC also.

Yeah, I didn't notice that in your post at first, but now that I see it... wtf?
Typo, I hope.

The imperial system DOES have some merits. I'm a supporter of the metric system for all things official, but let's face it, I don't know my height in cm :P.
The imperial system is great for ballpark values... the metric system should be used for any measurement that anyone takes seriously, though :).

OH if thats used for air pressure maybe that was a tire pressure gauge? I have no idea..... wow.
I use metrics all the time b/c Im a bio major, and I run track (its easier for me to think of things in track distances since I know it so well lol). But I have never seen a car built like this! I think its kinda a stupid idea to try to sell it here.... no one will wanna try to convert that kinda stuff.

my accord was built in the states...might've been made for canada though, 'cause all the measurements are...well, normal to me.

I guess you'd kind of get used to it after a while.... I like imperial measurements for some things. I ahve no idea how tall I am in cm, or how much I weigh in kg.
Many things in England are metric... they still display imperial though. Like if you buy 500g of meat, it'll have the imperial value in brackets.
They haven't gone near car things though - which is good - it'd be a bit wacky if it was all in km all of a sudden!! Old people would moan a lot too.

i didnt know about the weight measurements in england, that's weird...
and old people always moan...
so to quote bash...old people should be euthanized at birth

The stupidest measurement used in England, IMO is the "Stone"
For some reason, 99% of Brits I talk to only know their weight in terms of Stone.
Not kilograms, not even POUNDS. Only Stone.
And half of them don't know how much a Stone is!
(FYI - 1 stone = 14 pounds. How's THAT for a fucked up unit of measurement?)

Wasn't there some silly unit called "pig's head" or something?
