Just thought this would be an interesting topic.
Which inspires you more? Positive emotions.. or negative?

Neither or maybe both. Positive or negative -it's never one or the other...
That is especially the case of the two examples here. I've written about people I love. I've written about people I have been angry with, but I've never written out of love or out of anger.

I rarely post in this area, but anger is my inspiring force much more frequently.

I write more when I'm in a loving mood. It's always been easier for me.

Love, but usually a bittersweet love. Or heartbreak. Negative emotions have always fueled me to write more because I was a depressive person for a long time who never experienced a mutual true love with someone. So I'd write from what I'd know...and alas, it was usually about dark emotions. I can't say that I hold much of either emotions these days, though. Now I feel mostly indifferent, which isn't 'bad'. but doesn't make for a very passionate poem. *sigh*

Negative, like hatred and depression is always easier to write, just like mentioned earlier...when things are going good, you're too busy enjoying it.
When we're hurt, we usually are too proud or "helpless" to talk about it , so we write our feelings down....
...."why is it easier to destroy than to create?..."...

Anger, always Anger. I've written some of my best political pieces when Angry about a problem or an issue, some of which were sent to newspapers and printed, some of which were sent to state representatives. My anger is strongly focused in these instances and its not a wild tirade like some of the things I'll post on an internet message board. My writing contains a kind of emotion when angry that's hard to duplicate when I'm just apathetic feeling.
Love has never inspired me to right a damn thing ever. When a girl breaks up with me I get so angry, for so long that I fill an entire notebook with stories and ideas, and new concepts about life. My writing at that point has absolutely nothing to do with the girl, I just write to channel out my frustration.
There are times when I feel inspired for no reason and start writing, but that reason isn't love, it's just inspiration that comes to me at 2 a.m. out of nowhere and I wake up and start writing away.
Anger is the far stronger force, when indifferent I'll come up with ideas, and only occassionally write them out, or type and send them in the case of political issues. But when angry I come up with ideas faster then my hands can type or move, I start speaking the words out loud before they even hit the page.

I've wrote positive love poems before actually...but I have to be in a very elated mood...like totally lovestruck..But even that emotion is a rarity. As a teenager I grew up reading the works of Poe, and that along with my depressive nature has instilled a certain way of writing in me, I guess.

I agree. I need to be lovestruck to write something on that inspirational note.

Being a male I am embarressed to say that I do write in a journal when I feel angered or fustrated. I do realize writing is natural but i don't know.....lol Anyways it does help me to clear my mind and fix the issues that I have to deal with internally. I love writing....

Even when I'm not in a relationship, I'm driven by an enormous, heartfelt love for humanity in general. That love (and love, in general) is what drives me to write and draw. Don't get me wrong: negative emotions can motivate me too, but I really find myself being more ashamed of what I do when feeling that way than the other. So, my vote is for positive emotions.

If and when I write, it's always negative emotions. Heartbreak, unrequited love, anger, etc.

I only write when I'm feeling depressed or sad, I wouldn't call it anger I guess. Even then I don't write very often, only for something that I feel is significant enough to write about. Helps me get it out of my system I guess.
Sorry to bump such an old thread, I figured this forum is dead enough where it wouldn't be a big deal, heh
