This will be no doubt an excellent game, but I think they should deviate from the FFX universe....

FFXII is actually sent in the same world as Final Fantasy Tactics, or at least based on it. I beleive the logo for FFXII shows 'the Judges' who were sort of the bad guys in FF Tactics.
Although if you mean they shouldn't have kept the same graphical style as FFX i agree with you.

That's new info to me. But in the actual trailer it says it takes place 2 years later after FFX... so that gave me the though that it would be in the same universe... Yes, they should have left the FFX style... To similar...Vaan looks like the son of Tidus.

The characters bear resemblance, but I don't think they grew up only two years after FFX. I'd be more inclined to guess that they're referring to it being two years since FFX was released.

I'm not sure what else they could've done with the graphical style, and I really don't think that the game itself should be based on how it looks. Representational CGI is becoming much more common ever since the movie. Facial expression is a problem within the gameplay unless they switch to cutscenes.

Respectufully yes.. However, FF sagas have known to be very diffrent in styles and looks. I am just saying a variance in the formula would help out a lot. Like they did FFXI
but i can't get to play it because the gameplay is online exclusivly... BAH

Advent Children is all that is worth waiting for in the FF universe.

Will FFXII be another online disaster, or are they going back to good ol' single player?

Completely single-player for this one.

I checked the FFXII site and this is based entirely on the FF Tactics storyline and has very little to do with FFX other than the graphics.

I have loved all the Final Fantasy games, I just think so many people are under the impression that it's fucking cool to make fun of them anymore. people put so much stock into how great 7 was and that there will be nothing like it ever again, that wasn't even my favorite game in the series! I dunno, I really enjoyed tactics and when you said that 12 would deal with tactics story I got excited, and IGemini is right, I mean, graphics don't make the video game, I know those weren't the words exactly, but they really don't. I know companies spend a lot of time on them and they really enhance the experience, but when it's a roll playing game, if your story is crap, your graphics aren't keeping me hooked buddy

I agree. I believe that 7 help popularize RPG's all around, and the Materia System was pretty awesome. However, it wasn't square's best. I think FFII and III were far richer in story line and depth, and having 4 characters as opposed to three was more fun....

I enjoyed every final fantasy to date, except for X-2, because I refuse to play a sequal to an FF game... It doesn't seem right. I here it's good but I am not sure if I am willing to give it a try....

I hope 12's game play and story line and side quests will be rich and in depth. If this is taking place in the Tactics Universe, then would they have Job Classes, I hope so, but I doubt it.

It doesn't look like they have Job Classes.

From what I can tell, they've completely revised the battle system. It doesn't look like there are distinct phases between travel and battle as far as I can tell. The battles are based on free movement this time around.

first of all, a question for truth, when you say you loved final fantasy II & III the most, do you mean IV & VI or did you somehow get the old the old 3? sorry, I am REALLY wanting to play Final Fantasy III, but I heard on the wire that I might be getting to play it cause it might be coming out for Nintendo DS when that system surfaces. but I'm ALSO wondering about what's gonna happen with it, because obviously sqaure made the game and everything, but they sold production rights to Bandai now I think has it. so, I wonder what bandai is gonna say....wow I'm off topic

truth, another thing, I play FFX-2 for two reasons:
1- I really loved ten and wanted to see what the hell they were doing to it
2- it had the label Final Fantasy on it

well, it SUCKED (IN MY OPINION)....the voice acting was no where near as good, I didn't enjoy the story too much, and it was like a girl power video game, only having REALLY skimpy clothing to try and keep the guys playing interested, it didn't even do that for me though...

heh, BACK to the subject of 12 and tactics and such, it would have been cool to have the job classes, but I think it would be kind of hard now. Igemini already said there wasn't, but yeah, it would have been cool. the funny thing is, I am playing final fantasy 5 right now, because other than 3 (which is unavailable to me) it's the only one I haven't beaten, and it was the first of the games to introduce the job classes. tactics was MUCH easier to job level up though! ;)
