The NHL Lockout.

God damnit this is annoying.

Especcaly since my team signed a stellar goltender. Arrg.

For those who dont know, the NHL Owners have locked out the players and demanded some major reworkings of the financial system. Basically they want a Salary Cap, and for players to take a 15% paycut.. roughly is what it would probably work out to.

But what pisses me off the most is that the owners were the ones offering up these huge contracts in the first place, and now they want to re-neg on all of it. What the hell? That wouldnt be tolerated in any industry.

Where are my senators? :(



Also, has anyone seen those Nike ads with the rink melting away and it being empty and at the end it says. 'Bring it Back' it was amazing, they played it RIGHT after the press conference, haha there is thinking ahead!

But I was wondering if there was a wallpaper version of it anywhere?
The Nike Website is probably the most brutal to navigate, the Hockey area at least.

Bravehearter, you are talking about the fabulous Dominik Hasek right? I was in love with him when he played here in Buffalo, and then when he moved to Detroit. But in recent years i have not been able to watch much of him b/c I have been too busy :sadcry:

figures hockey would have something happen. I just actually started to get into hockey this past season. so yeah, now they're having a lockout. go figure.

I think that the players are really being unreasonable here. I mean, granted the owners have to be held accountable as well, but there were 5 teams on the verge of bankrupcy, that's just insane.

The problem is, players are taking 75% of the revenue generated, and they are whining about not getting paid as much as the other athletes in sports. there is just a little problem with that. first of all, you have to look at popularity.

hockey, as much as I love the games and truly believe there is not a better sport out there, is about 7th in popularity in sports in the U.S. Which is stupid, but, what can you do, right? Anyway, the contracts in the NBA and MLB might seem so much bigger than Hockey because the numbers are bigger, but really, it's not the same thing. I heard a stat that the NBA players get 25% of the revenue, so really, hockey players are already making tripple with the NBA athletes make, it's just a matter of what is the bigger number sometimes.

I don't know, I've rambled a lot, I really love hockey and I want it to come back, I just think the players need to realize they are getting paid to play a game, yes it is work, but no, it's not really looking for a cure for cancer or sewing a kid up after he was shot in Iraq now is it?
