I mean... can't anyone think up original TV programming anymore?

Now we have "The Benefactor." Yet another stupid reality TV show involving a million dollars and doing stupid things. About as dumb as The Apprentice.

I guess I'm stuck to last year's programs of The O.C. (hardly original, but entertaining, funny and fresh at least) and Joan of Arcadia, while is finally original! I mean, sure it uses many of the same episode premises as other shows set in high school (there are only so many) but the God twist makes this show fantastic. And the characters are new and different instead of the usual cookie cutter ones. And then there's always Scrubs which was original... I kind of see Scrubs as the Ally McBeal of medicine instead of Law... but Ally McBeal the way it was in the beginning with the Ooga Chaka Baby and those things...

Scrubs is great, and the new season has already started with Heather Graham joining the cast as a regular. It's really one of the only shows that makes me laugh out loud any more. That, and Malcolm in the Middle.
Like you, I'm not a fan of reality shows. Although my brother watched The Apprentice last year and claimed it was awesome, as did a lot of other people I know. I've never actually watched an episode, of that or any othe reality shows.
Here's what I normally watch on a regular basis:

Scrubs
Malcolm in the Middle
Dead Like Me

Hmm, that's about it, for now, except I DO watch more tv than that, just not anything else every week. I watch a lot of VH 1, women's tennis, MTV when there's something decent on it (The Real World is set in Philadelphia this season so I've got to remember to watch)
Oh, and I like Jeopardy.

You know what show really skeeved me out? That one with the midget guy(s) picking a midget bride.

I know what you mean about the unoriginality. It's like one station will advertise a show and then all the other ones come out with shows that are almost the same thing.

Currently I watch: Charmed, Smallville, Gilmore Girls, and the O.C. I know there are more I just can't think of them. With the exception of the O.C. almost all the shows I watch are older ones with at least 2-3 seasons under their belts. I've tried to watch a few of the newer shows but just lost interest.

I agree...the only thing I really watch on TV anymore is Law and Order, Scrubs and maybe Everybody Loves Raymond...oh and Family Guy re-runs..

I enjoy "The Surreal Life" on VH1. Granted, not very original...but the show is hilarious, because they are pretty much washed up or "forgotten" celebrities and they are either eccentric weirdos or the spoiled brat wanna bes and they clash...and it's great!! I like seeing the douchebags cry and the weirdos be funny. :)

That, and I watch Adult Swim on a regular basis. I love Aqua Teen, Family Guy, and Futurama.

I like Law and Order... but not regularly. I watch it when I need a dose of a somewhat intellectual show.

and Jeopardy is a given... when I don't have class or work at that time. Which is nearly every day now. bah. I WANT KEN! (and Ken's wallet)

I also watch the news: the ULTIMATE reality show!

I personally like the apprentice. Great show, its neat some of the stuff that they do on there, but I also like Trump so im Biased. The benefactor I havent seen yet, but Mark Cuban RULES. haha I dont care, here is a guy who made it big, and is just your average guy who happens to be a billionaire.

You want shit shows? Try Joey. What the fuck. Out of all the characters on that show they give it to the guy who plays the stupidest most annoying person on the show. 30 min of Joey? No thanks. I couldnt handle when it was 5 min of joey on the screen.

Another new show im looking forward to is Law and Order: Trial By Jury. I love all the law and orders. Trial by Jury will have Brisco in it but not as much since he is semi-retiring from the show, what does that mean for the main series?

Denis Farina will be taking his spot on the main series. If you know who he is, you know that he will do a fucking awesome job. He was actually a detective for 25 yrs before he left to persue acting.

Another awesome show? Arrested Development. Hilarious.

i watch adult swim when i can, but other than that i spend my tv time with video games. there are almost no shows i can get involved in. the two animated series that mtv did a while back were good, spy groove and downtown, but of course were cancled in the first season.

Adult swim is awesome, but other than that, I've pretty much stopped watching tv altogether. All the networks have sort of homogenized into one big reality tv show.

I do have a guilty pleasure, though - HGTV, and all those stupid home design shows (and yes, they're all sort of reality shows because they deal with real people's houses and whatnot). Its really sad, I dont know a damn thing about interior design, and will probably never even attempt to design my own house or whatever with these crazy projects they come up with, but its still managed to suck me in.

I loved the old Degrassi shows... but not the new one... firstly, WAY too many characters to keep track of. and secondly, it just seems like such a rehash. the acting isn't terribly good...

I can't get enough of Law and Order...what a great, great show. That, and I watch Monk on USA. And that's it for TV, save for NFL football on the weekends.
