Well, on monday college starts. It's my first year, so I'm excited (I'm the prick that slept through your highschool classess and still got A's without cheating, so maybe I might be challenged for once). I started thinking to myself "Class would be a great place to meet girls, but I don't want to piss the professor of by talking during the class, so maybe I'll come early." Now the problem is I don't want to show up early and see that no one is there. Basically what my question is, about how early do you usually get to your College class.

I usually get there just baaaarely before the class/lecture starts, and it seems that in most of my classes, 1/2 of the rest of the group does as well. I couldn't say for how long other people have been in there, for all I know they're in there just because its air-conditioned.

For me, on-time is late and early is on-time, so I like to get to class about 5 minutes before it starts. Don't wanna seem too weird haha

As for meeting people in class, I didn't have much luck. My profs didn't really do much 'group work' stuff, so you basically go to class, take notes and tests, and leave. Your best bet for meeting someone in class is probably the whole "let's switch info incase we need assignments" excuse hehe. There will be many other places to meet girls, and way better than the classroom, that's for sure! Good luck in your first year :)

i make it a point to be at least ten minutes early to class if it's at all possible. and meeting people is tough in some classes, easy in others. it's easier for me to meet people in English classes/classes that require a lot of writing because i did well on the ACTs in reading, so they want to work with me. math classes are tougher. (i hate math.)

It really depends on the schedule. Some classes I barely make it for it to start, because I have another lecture ending at the other end of campus at the very same time the next one is supposed to start... others, I am twenty minutes early, waiting for the last class to leave the lecture hall, because I have a one hour break, which means I don't have time to walk all the way back to my flat.

Oftentimes I'm 10-15 minutes early, though, and I'm rarely alone in that. Strangely, a big class like "Europe and the Wider World", 10-15 minutes early means that three people are there -- whereas 10-15 minutes early with a tiny class like "The Early Medieval Insular Celts", the halls are full with people waiting 10-15 minutes in advance.

Everyone tends to show up for class 5-10 min. early at my school, but even then there isn't much talking. It's like eveyone comes in sits down and gets some last min. preperation in before the professor comes in.

Does your school have any other activities? Mine has tons, like a little cafe shop thats free for students and every week they are showing a movie or bring a band in. It's a much better place to meet people than classes.

I usually get there about 10 minutes before hand if I'm already on campus. Because I used to travel quite a way for uni I was usually there about half an hour early for some lectures because if i took the next train I wouldn't make it.

Thanks everyone, but yeah, class isn't a great place to meet people. No matter, so far I've found the cafeteria and basically anywhere there is people is great.

Here's a better idea: look around your class and if you see someone you know you have seen around a lot, take note of hier. That way, when u see her again you can be like "Oh hey you are in my such and such class." Thats what I do. I see guys from classes of mine and talk to them and get to know them by talking about class and such
