I have just finished seeing Kill Bill Volume 2.
After the first one, I thought it was great because it was so bad ass, it was just an in your face, cool action flick, classic Tarintino. But this second one left me speechless. I dont think Ive been this awe in a complete film since I first saw Pulp Fiction. Its just a cool cool great move.
The dialog in the second movie is the best ive seen in years. YEARS. Everything from the conversation between Budd (Micheal Madsen) and Bill (David Carradine) Is just one of the best. Madsen is one of the most under-rated actors in holywood today, and this movie shows off how he can be such a bad ass one second, and a somewhat regular nice guy the next. Amazing.
And David Carradine? Wow. How can this guy not be concidered for an Oscar for that performance? I couldnt take my eyes off him when he was on screen. His voice is just hypnotic, that combined with the writing of Quintin Tarintino (who is without a doubt in my opinion the most talented person in Movies today) It was perfect. I dont see how he could not get Best Supporting Actor.
Ever notice the knack Quintin has for getting some what has-beens and making them super cool again. John Travolta. Travolta was going NOWHERE after his 70s movies. Quintin cast him, he got nominated for Best Supporting Actor. (He started Samual L. Jacksons career really as well) And now we have Carradine, I really hope he gets some more roles because of this now because he deserves to get out of the shadow of 'Kung-Fu'
One thing I loved about the movie is how he didnt subtitle Pai Mai's speech. I mean really.. you dont need to understand it to understand what is going on. I love how he doesnt dumb it down.
So now that its all out on DVD and more people have seen the complete version.. thoughts?
I cant wait for Quintin's next movie. Dont say Hero, because all he did was edit it really. His next one is a World War II movie called Inglorious Bastards. :)
Quintin and World War 2? Oh Baby!
