It was free, I was invited...and surprisingly not horrible. I thought it was better than Freddy vs. Jason, and I thought Alien and Predator looked great....erm...it was a bit corny in spots, well..a few to many spots but I thought it was decent.

I went and saw it the other day. I liked it though I wish I would have brushed up on my Alien and Predator facts. It's been such a long time since i've seen those movies.

The story took its sweet time picking up, but other than that it was good.

I'd been waiting about a decade to see this movie (ever since the crossover games on the old SNES and Genesis systems).
Overall I think they did a really good job with the whole thing. The Predator / Alien fight scenes were really cool, but I do think the fight against the Queen Alien could have been better done. I also like how they explained some of the history of the Predators and their arrival to earth.
The only part I found really lame was the very last 10 seconds of the movie (if you've seen it you know what I mean). Had the movie just ended 15 seconds sooner, I would have been a whole lot happier.

Aparently they cut a lot of the really good stuff 3 weeks before the movie hit theatres to get a PG-13 rating, much to the directors disapointment.
I thought it was good in theatres, but looks likes the directors cut dvd is gonna rock.
About the studio's cutting of the film, which he had no control over, he said, and I quote, "All of the best scenes were cut." Anderson was obviously very annoyed at the way the film was released. However, this was not purely because of the PG-13 limitation, which incidentally, the studio enforced THREE WEEKS before the release date! It was always going to be R until then. Part of the reason for the cutting was that some of the effects were not ready by the time the release date came around. The effects team had very little time to do anything.
As far as the content that was cut, apparently we see all those who die, die on screen, but he also said that there is a sub-plot that we will have to wait for on DVD. Yes there will be an R-rated Director's cut DVD although they don't know the release date yet.

"However, the Director's Cut DVD plans to right all the wrongs of the theatrical version by incorporating Anderson's new alien design which involves the Aliens having no back legs. Instead they have wheels and a mounted gore-thrower that can fire many, many gores for all the hard-core fans who know that that is the shit!
It will also feature the deleted prologue which features the whaling station and is set in 1904. Rumour has it that a new strain of alien will be introduced - the whalien - which occurs when a retarded face hugger accidently impregnates a whale, which is actually quite logical when you think about it. Anyway, they have many, many magical adventures and the film is going to be really great."
AvP was an absolute disgrace to cinema. It was weak in every aspect of its production. Paul W. S. Anderson should be eliminated.

I second that. Bullet-time facehuggers! Ripping off the movie Cube! The big Queenie going for a run! Then under the sea!! Flying CGI Predators!! No plot!! A love story!! And a nasty killing machine with a heart of gold!! GENIUS!!!

I liked it. It wasn't meant to be an intelectual thriller or anything. Just a big action sci-fi flick, for which it did great being.
