Here are some great ideas for stimulating your imagination that were posted before by BabyDiva...

Poetry Cyberworkshop:
Pretty much what it says. Going through some basic poetic forms, rhyme schemes, etc - - - anyone who wants to participate write and post something written using whatever form we're talking about. Maybe even once a week or something having our own poetry corner discussion where we can offer some strong feedback, maybe even getting those other published people involved.

Love Letters for the Lost:
Let's face it. We're a writing forum, not just a poetry forum. So, as a relationship site, we can give tips and practice writing love letters using some of the most romantic and time tested letters as a source of inspiration. This could be good to get other posters who don't come here often involved since one of the most romantic gestures is a hand written letter from one's heart. :sigh: I feel a song coming on....
Yeah, and we can give feedback and our own thoughts on each other's stuff too - possibly with another weekly chat evolving from it.

Author/Writer Focus:
Most of us write based on something we've seen that touched our hearts. Sort of like the above two, we'd select a poet (Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Emily Dickenson, Shakespeare, Frost, etc) and put up one of their all time classic poems that just moves us, not just romantically, and sort of pick it apart, showing what worked for each of us in the poem. Then if you guys wanted to, we could write based on the high points of their time-tested classics.

Creative Non-Fiction:
I just finished a workshop class on this topic last semester. You can come up with some very interesting stories if you know how to do it. I've got a publication my class did of our best works for the semester. It gives a lot of ideas and I could guide whomever wants to particpate through how to write creative nonfiction pieces...and who knows...maybe you're writing the beginnings of your own memoirs!

Short Stories:
Always a favorite of classes I teach. Rather than examine...we decide on some sort of seasonal topic (like Halloween for example) and you go off on your own tangent and make a story. No guidance, no truth involved...just imagination and fantasy. Could always make for interesting reads.

Group Poetry/Stories:
Just like the camp game, one person starts it. Then the next carries on, so on and so forth. It's relatively easy and makes for some VERY interesting turns and swirls in poems and stories. I think it's fun to do and isn't very time consuming either.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And I encourage all you writers out there to try out these ideas and post your workings. I'd also love to see more ideas/feedback from all of you!

I think they're all great ideas, provided they are your cup of tea. In my case, pretty much none of them are.
