daydreamer

Last night, I danced amongst the stars
In a darkness that only comes
with the cold winter night.
I gazed up at the dark sky
No stars were with me
For I was all alone
Not a thing uncommon.
I felt its pain
and if I listened closely
the sound of my once
love filled heart
shattering into a thousand pieces.
It lay at my feet, in the fresh fallen snow
But I, unable to touch it
Unable to mend it
Left it there to bleed
Like some defenseless creature
In the eyes of a hunter.
A single tear
What a fool I have been
to fall, to desire
A heart that longs
for something deeper.
"My heart aches"
as Keats once said,
Oh, to share the pain
of poets passed.
The dark night
consumes me
and I do not fear
its gentle death.
In a darkness that only comes
with the cold winter night.
I gazed up at the dark sky
No stars were with me
For I was all alone
Not a thing uncommon.
I felt its pain
and if I listened closely
the sound of my once
love filled heart
shattering into a thousand pieces.
It lay at my feet, in the fresh fallen snow
But I, unable to touch it
Unable to mend it
Left it there to bleed
Like some defenseless creature
In the eyes of a hunter.
A single tear
What a fool I have been
to fall, to desire
A heart that longs
for something deeper.
"My heart aches"
as Keats once said,
Oh, to share the pain
of poets passed.
The dark night
consumes me
and I do not fear
its gentle death.
