private messaging

Hey all.. I was wondering if I need to have a certain number of posts or something to allow private messaging? I haven't really been able to find anything on why I cannot do that.

Certain entities sometimes sign up for an account and use the instant messaging system for spamming, but such entities are almost always deterred by having the minimum post requirement. Hence you cannot use the instant messaging system until you reach some small number of posts.
