what is the exact definition of sex? is it actual insertion of the penis, or does it have to be that the penis is continually thrusted inside? my b-friend put his penis inside me (about half of it) for a few seconds(no thrusting). Am i still a virgin?

intercourse

n 1: communication between individuals [syn: social intercourse] 2: the act of sexual procreation between a man and a woman; the man's penis is inserted into the woman's vagina and excited until orgasm and ejaculation occur

that's from www.dictionary.com

but here's the thing.. if orgasm doesn't occur, then is it not intercourse?? i dun think so... it just means that he sucks in bed, rite?

if his penis was in your vagina, then yes, it is considered intercourse, regardless of what movements you made while it was inside.

as far as orgasming goes, no, you do not have to orgasm from intercourse for it to be considered intercourse. the vast majority of females don't even orgasm from intercourse anyway.

does his WHOLE penis have to be inside in order for one to lose their virginity? what if he was partially inside?

i would say that you are no longer a virgin even if only part of his penis was inside. because hey, what if his dick was really big and he couldn't fit it inside you? would that not be considered sex?

no...

lol @ pandora.... i hate to say it but yeah...technically your not a virgin by my definition

Am I tight or not?

wether you're still a virgin or not depends on wether your hymen is still intact... but considering many girls break their hymen doing stuff like biking or going to the gym...

who cares. do you still consider yourself a virgin?

Mm ... I don't know. You've raised a good point.

Generally, when I consider the term "having sex" or intercourse, whateva you want to call it, I think of having sex until he ejaculates. Like, when he cums, that's the finished act, you've done it, you've had sex.

There was this guy who slept in my bed one night. He was my ex-boyfriend's friend, and I told him we weren't going to do anything because I would feel way too bad. Anyway he did try, and he actually managed to slip it in and I said, "No," and he took it out. It was in me for about 2 seconds. Anyway then my ex-bf asked me if we had sex, and I told him no. I mean that doesn't count as sex, right?

Being a virgin has nothing to do with the hymen being in tact.

really? so when you go to a doctor and s/he checks to see if you're a virgin, how does s/he do it?

What Am I Tight or What? said. Since the technical terminology for 'virgin' is so sparce and undecided, it's up to you. Do you think you're a virgin? Either way, who cares?

intercourse... stress the key word INTER! Inter = enter... as in... to invade.. as in... you get the idea. Once he officially sticks his penis inside your vagina, then that means you guys had intercourse!

Sorry to break it so obviously.. but sometimes.....

Kevin......DONE!!

theoretically...girls can break their hymen other ways than sex..

i think the most common was is thru horseback riding, or things that involve the girl to be in a position like that.. gymnastics was another too i think...

I don't want to argue just for the sake of argument but, who goes to the doctor and has them 'check to see if you're a virgin?'
Nobody I know.
"Hey doc, while you're down there, check to see if I'm a virgin or not, will ya?"
Wayne and the others are right, you can break your hymen with any number of activities other than sex, even using tampons. If that happens, there's really no way for a doctor to detect virginity.
I agree also with the concept of virginity being lost once penetration occurs. That's it. Period. The end. You've lost it.

well, at different times in certain cultures (a while ago for caucasians, even now for muslims and others) a girl was supposed to be a virgin when she got married. you've never heard of parents asking the doctor to check if the girl was a virgin?

but that's besides the point, regardless of the reason, they would check the hymen.

and I already said the hymen can be broken during other activities :)

I'll tell you what. We'll pretend you didn't say anything. You can just forget the whole thing. And then you can still be a virgin, which, it sounds to me, is what you really want?

hmm....for some odd reason, I like Kevin's definition. I never quite thought of it that way, but it makes a helluva lot of sense.

They ask . It usually goes something like "Are you sexually active?"

Sorry to spoil kevin's explanation, but "inter" does not have anything to do with "enter." It actually means "between." The whole word intercourse means "running between." Think of the other uses of the word. Intercourse is not always sexual, it can also be social for example (social intercourse is also known as a conversation ).

Anyway, to add another definition to the question at hand about whether she had intercourse:
"Physical sexual contact between individuals that involves the genitalia of at least one person"

Source for definition and word origin: Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary

But, as to whether or not she's still a virgin, I have to agree with those who said it depends whether she thinks of herself as a virgin or not. Virginity is more psychological than physical.

Well, let me whip out MY.. uh.. where the fuck did my roomate throw it?

(spends 25 minutes picking up my roomate's shit only to find that he has it on his desk... strange considering he uses web TV, and has no computer  )

Dude, i have Merriam-Webster Dictionary too, small world!

Open page 392:

Inter- (in-'Ter): in-terred; in-ter-ring: Bury:

So, hence, my word was more correct.. so HA!

On page 393:

In-ter-course: in-ter-korse n. 1 : connection or dealings between persons or nations 2 : (AND I STRESS THIS PART) physical sexual contact between individuals that involves the genitalia of at least one person (oral ~ ) esp: sexual intercourse.

Well, now that i have my own personal sense of self gratification... i shall retire to my state of darkness and self-pity

So, hence, my word was more correct.. so HA!

Huh? For one thing, your definition still has nothing to do with the word "enter", and for another, mine says something quite different.
inter- prefix 1 : between : among : in the midst

If, on the other hand, you were looking at "inter" rather than "inter-", it does in fact mean to deposit a dead body in the earth or in a tomb, but how does that relate to sex?? Also, the word origin is from "terre," for "earth," which still has nothing to do with sex or entrance.

On page 393:

In-ter-course: in-ter-korse n. 1 : connection or dealings between persons or nations 2 : (AND I STRESS THIS PART) physical sexual contact between individuals that involves the genitalia of at least one person (oral ~ ) esp: sexual intercourse.

That's the same definition I excerpted in my last message, and you'll see that it still says nothing about the penis entering the vagina, or anything entering anything else for that matter. I fail to see your victory ;-)

involves the genitalia of at least one person. She stated that he stuck his penis in her vagina.. hence.. it involved not one, but BOTH of their genitalias.. soo... it is THE dictionary deffinition of intercourse.

How about we call it a draw.. as much fun as it is arguing with people... i prefer to do it when i know the psychological aspects of the people, and since i know nothing of you other than your pod-related fetish... i shall witdrawl with either a drawl or a submission... your call, dude!

LOL ("pod-related fetish")

Sure, it's a draw, although I do see your point on that last bit. I'm very tired (jetlag), so I'm not exactly thinking straight.

By the way, I wouldn't go so far as to call it a fetish. I like to be barefoot, simple as that. :cool3:

Well I was pretty damn drunk and tired, lying in bed, and I seriously had no idea he was going to do it. He just slipped it in, really casual, I mean I hardly even felt it.

I just wanted to sleep. He's the one who took his pants off and started bothering me. I guess because I was drunk he got further than he should've.
