Mmmkay...I've been noticing a lot of gift threads lately, ranging anywhere from birthdays to Christmas (which isn't for awhile, jeez! :P), for all of our wonderful boyfriends and girlfriends
So, I'm hoping this will work. If not...oh well. heh
Post your gift:
- ideas
- suggestions
- questions
here!
Thanks guys :) Just trying to flex my big bad mean mod muscle :cool3:
P.S - Those with existing threads about gifts, don't worry, I'm not gonna delete them. This is more just for the future since the season of gift giving is quickly approaching.

A cd for your boyfriend with "your song" on it. That is a good gift if you and your boyfriend have a special song.

Well the best present my boyfriend said I ever gave him was when I was away on a family vacation on the other side of the world for a month. I kept him a journal every day of what kinds of stuff I did, what was funny, how much I missed him, etc... so he could see I was thinking of him constantly!!!
The best present he gave me was cooking me a candlelight dinner on the patio, all expertly done with my very favorite foods! He's a good cook!! mmm...
Other present ideas:
- if you go to a photo store, you can get photos printed on mugs, calendars (that's what I'm thinking of doing for Xmas), Tshirts, pillowcases, etc...
- a scrapbook of pictures of you guys, receipts, movie stubs, your emotions at the time...
- girls always love jewlery!!!! and flowers :)
- if your town or city has a murder mystery dinner, comedy club, or Medieval times, take them to that
Hmm, those are the ones that stand out most in my mind. We did the CD thing too, except it was more of a group project... we both picked songs to be on our couple's CD so we'd both listen to it!!

yummy's photo store reminds me of Christmas several years ago. My ex and I got our pix taken together professionally. His brother took one of them and had it transferred into a pillowcase and got a puzzle made out of the picture. I wouldn't be too keen sleeping on a pillow with my face on it, but I thought the puzzle was a cute idea.

The best gifts are those that are totally original and come from the heart:
Take your SO for a picnic in the park with his/her favorite foods
Make your SO go on a treasure hunt and leave little presents (3 dollar jewlery, flowers, candy) leading up to a big present...such as dinner or a massage or something creative.
*to spruce it up make the notes for th treasure hunts poems that tell why you like them so much....i.e. the present's in her locker so you could say: When your eyes lock with mine all words lose their meaning.
A massage from you is the greatest (and cheapest) present from either gender....it is sweet and perfect for those who haven't been dating for too long.
Well that's all I can think of for now...but the key is to be original and to think about your partner's tastes? Is he/she sporty? Take him/her to play basketball and surprise them with a personal trainer for an hour (runs about 30 dollars). Ok so I said I was done....just think about the person and what they like.
NOW I am through...

A friend of mine is away at university...so I'm making sort of like a video postcard for her.
I'm taking my digital camera and recording little video snippets of our mutual friends on various days, and there will be some sections where I talk to her sort of in video letter format, parts where I take her on a "tour" of my university, and a few clips of me playing some songs to her...various other things like that.
...I'll edit and mix all the clips together, convert them to VCD, and burn them.
That way, she can watch it on her DVD player on campus.

This is all I can think of to get my SO...
I don't know what music she likes, or what kind of books she reads (though I know she reads a lot, about three times as much as me, and I read a helluva lot), I don't know what size clothes she wears, though I could find out...
I know what she looks good in, and thus I am thinking about getting her a sweater. She looks really good in those tight-looking sweaters with a high neck... bleh. Not very descriptive.
I know what I'm talking about, at least.
I *so* need some suggestions.

So, do girls actually like those gold dipped roses?
I been trying to think of a gift for a friend of mine... she isnt my girlfriend, more like my best friend. even though we do have a little intimacy from time to time.. thing is.. i am thinking about getting her a cashmere sweater from J Crew... but when it comes to sizes i become like a lost little puppy. I have NO clue.. how can i go about finding what size she wears and all that stuff without making her suspicious of what i am going to get her.
Oh ya.. and do girls actually like those gold dipped roses?

I can be sometimes. :P In my previous post, I was gonna add that sometimes I borrow my bf's sweatshirt and can check out the size then if needed, but since guys normally dont borrow shirts from their gfs, it wouldn't work as well.

well im not a girl but i got my former gf a real rose dipped in white gold and it think she liked it alot.
another great gift to get your girl would be to make her a dozen origami roses. she really really relaly liked them. if you want, i could make some for all you guys (for a price) and you can say you made them. haha this is what they look like
http://students.washington.edu/moyn/ebay/dozen.jpg
but she said that the best gift i gave her was this cd i made her. i was a photo cd. when she opened it up there was a title page with link to "things she gave me," "dances we went to," "places we went," etc. and when you click on of them there would be music and pictures with captions under them. took like 40 hours but it was so worth it.

Too fricking soon!
I think the best "present" I ever gave my boyfriend was this weekend. On Thursday night, we had a major fight, and he wasn't going to come to a concert (Sister Hazel) with me on Friday as we'd planned because he thought I didn't want to see him. But I made him come anyway (I paid for the tickets and everything, so it counts as a present, ha! :P) and seriously, it was apparently one of the best nights of both of our lives. Bless you, SH, for possibly saving my relationship. :o :cool3:
heh, my boyfriend's friend wants us to go on a double date with him and his gf on Valentines Day... to see the Daredevil movie, since it comes out then. Mike was like, "Umm... riiiiight."
The most AWESOME thing he's ever given me has to be... a comic book. I sleep with it next to my bed, and I have almost every night since he gave it to me. It sounds corny, but it's this comic called Magic Inkwell that I don't think they make anymore. Anyway, the first section in the book is called "Insomnia" and it's written in poetic verse. It basically portrays this character (a cat) who misses his girlfriend cat and he can't be with her, so he goes to sleep and dreams about going across town to her house and giving her a kiss. Since we're in a bit of an LDR, it seemed appropriate.
Basically, anything that symbolises your relationship- since we're both English majors, we tend to give each other books or lyrically appropriate mixtapes! :P- is great.

A cd for your boyfriend with "your song" on it. That is a good gift if you and your boyfriend have a special song.
I did this for our first valentine's day. I put that, and both of our individual songs, (we both have a song) along with some other songs that mean a lot to us.

This is my first Valentines day with my new girlfriend, we've known each other for three months or more...she told me I should get her something I would like to see her in...so I chose this:
http://www2.victoriassecret.com/images/pro...gvw/V227116.jpg (http://www2.victoriassecret.com/images/prodlgvw/V227116.jpg)
but she doesn't wear dresses so I don't know if she would ever really have a use for it, girls sleep in these things right? and she could wear it when we're more intimate...but what do you all think? WAs she just saying that? Should I make her oragami roses? Girls...Women?
I think I may get her this instead:
http://www2.victoriassecret.com/images/pro...gvw/V227034.jpg (http://www2.victoriassecret.com/images/prodlgvw/V227034.jpg)
(but my sister say I should get the slip...I don't really know)
I want her to get me a glass pipe but I don't think she's gonna.
But I kinda want to get her a sweater instead she'd look just as good in a sweater...

For V-day I got my unofficial boyfriend of like one-day (but long time flirty-friend) a pair of boxers that have a lil red devil on it and it says "Hot Stuff" on the elastic.
I also got him some temporary blue hair-dye gel that he's been talking about for a long time.

Hey everyone, I thought i'd ask a question if that's ok.
Comming up this friday is me and kate's 3 months together. This so happens to be JUST before the easter weekend (which I do not get to see her). So does anyone know what I should get her?
I have thought of getting her a chocolate bunny, with a bunny soft toy and a little card. So any suggestions would be great!

My girlfriend and my five-month anniversary is coming up, and we both want to get each other something. Trouble is, we have no idea what. Actually, neither of us have any ideas for things to get each other, girls are traditionally the ones given gifts, so picking something out for her should be much easier than vice versa.
I've looked over the suggestions here:
Neither of us have any special songs (and we really don't share music interests anyway).
She doesn't want to get flowers, since she'd have to schlep them around school all day (and I don't blame her!).
She already has plenty of jewelry, and doesn't seem to desire any more.
She doesn't want to have our picture taken professionally (though I wouldn't consider putting it on a pillowcase ).
So what can I get my girlfriend that shows her that I care; doesn't cost a fortune; and, most importantly of all, she’d like?

here's an idea for an LDR bday gift: send her a dozen roses with a letter and one of your ooold favorite teddy bears that you've had for forever and is probably stored in a box somewhere going to waste... that way she has something to grab onto when you're not there, and its more personal than just going out and buying a random teddy bear.

Hrm... All these are great and i love the scavenger hunt idea. She wants me to surprise her and said other than the surprise she doesnt really care what she gets. Well first off we all know thats a big fat woman lie. So i think ill have her come to my house and have the scavenger hunt start at my door before she even sees me.
I have a few ideas for what she could look for but i need a big shabam at the end. Wow. I saw this PBR beer T and i just had to get it for my bro. it was so him. I want something to jump out at me like that about my girl. I want to see something and be like "i have to get that for her, she would love it" anyways. keep the ideas comming christmas is comming soon!!!
Btw we have been going out for almost a year now and are extreamly intimate. So if that helps for ideas great.

I'm thinking of recording a CD for my girlfriend for our one-year anniversary. I'm sure she'll like it, even though she doesn't listen to a lot of classical music (I play flute), because I asked her first if she wanted it...lol. It spoils the gift, but I wanted to be sure, since she really doesn't listen to a lot of music.
Anyway, I really don't know how to help you personally, except by mentioning that something you've made yourself will probably be a lot more special to her than something you buy.

I need input on this topic ASAP, so I'm moving it to the main dating forum! Thanks :angel3:
My S/O and I have been together (adding all together since when we broke up for a while- long story) for about a year now, and I want to get him something very special for christmas.
He is going to be flying with me to a different state to meet my father and my family, so it needs to be small enough to carry either in my luggage or on my person in my bag (I've had stuff stolen from my luggage :/ )
He is going to college in a different state, so I was thinking of getting him something for his dormroom, but I also want to get him something personal, unique, and special. He likes leather and already has a jacket, - I'm thinking i'm getting one from him for Christmas- he has gloves,a hat, he bought himself a ring to wear to show he's 'taken', I've gotten him cologne and a watch before.
What's left??

Why are guys so hard to shop for?
My boyfriend's B-day is coming up and I have no clue on what to get him. I know he likes but I really want to do something special for him.

So for Xmas I'm giving (yes, its past Xmas, but my bf and I are on opposite sides of the country, so we're exchanging Xmas gifts in a week) my boyfriend a scarf that I knitted for him, a really nice dressy shirt (for when we go away for the weekend, he always says he has nothing nice to wear), and a set of his favorite scented candles. We've only been together about 3 months, so we both said to stay on a budget and not go crazy...
I know its a month away but Valentines day is gonna be here before I know it. I was thinking of getting him something small (since hes getting 3 things for Xmas, and since its a fairly new relationship) for V-day, but am not sure what to do. I cant make him a CD because we dont relaly have any "songs" of our own and the ones which I would put on a CD he already owns! I was thinking of taking him somewhere fun for a day, but with no car its rather difficult, plus its freezing so the types of places I was thinking of dont really work...theres a nice aquarium that we both want to go to, its a bit pricey which is why we haven't gone, but is it lame to surprise him by taking him to the aquarium?? I imagine he'll take me out to dinner, and we're both poor college students so I imagine we wont be doing a real gift exchange, so is lunch and the aquarium too boring or do you think he might appreciate it? The only other idea I had was taking him to the blue man group..he's been once before but I never have, he said it was a lot of fun, maybe tickets for that would be a better bet?

My bf and I had our 1yr anniversary a few days ago. We got each other talking bears(the ones you make yourself & put your own voice into). :) He got me a bear that's dressed like him and I got him a bear like me. Not every guy would like that sort of thing, I realize. I thought it was such a cute idea, though. I'm also working on a scrapbook all about us.

I love giving gifts to people I love. Sadly romantic love has evaded me for some time now, but let me draw up the list of gifts I gave when I last felt so head over heels...
Before we ever started dating (after we fell for each other, oddly) we'd been talking online after the first time we met (distance thing) and he gave up drinking (something that he and his college pals were quite fond of) for lent. The next time I saw him (a trip we each took to NYC) I brought him a bottle of non-alcoholic sparkling grape juice. The plan originally called for plastic wine glasses by Rockefeller Center, but I forgot those at home, so I just presented the nicely wrapped bottle (belated Valentine's day gift, I believe).
I gave him a mix CD called "Near or Far: A mix for my California star" which ended with "California Stars" a Woody Guthrie song recorded by Billy Bragg with Wilco (he was from LA). So for the next gift, I ordered LA Lights kids shoes online, got an old mirror from a makeup compact from my sorority girl suitemate, stuck it in the shoe and wrote a message on the back which ended with something like "Despite the LA Lights, you can always see the brightest California star"
I still have the other shoe... it's an odd thing to have laying around.
I'm a juggler and he loved trying to juggle with my help. So for his birthday, I bought him three balls, in Dogders True Blue and white. Wonder if he's been using them at all.
Yea, I'm a hopeless romantic. Sigh.

For my boyfriend's and my 1st anniversary I planned a special night for us. I worked at a motel so I booked us a room with a king bed and jacuzzi tub (for really cheap since I worked there). I wanted it to be a surprise though so I told him that I wanted to stop by and pick up my check. We got there and I went inside and checked in at the desk. Then I went out to the truck and told him that a cot had to be taken out of a room upstairs and brought downstairs but could he do it so Trish wouldn't have to try to do it. So I led him upstairs to a room and we went in and he was like wtf there's no cot in here. So then he figured it out and we had a nice romantic night which involved a jacuzzi tub and some sexy lingerie.
We usually go all out for birthday presents and then keep Christmas presents simple and cheap. For his birthday I bought him an acoustic guitar which was almost a thousand bucks and he got me a digital camara and made a beautiful frame for this huge picture of a cheetah that I drew (he's a carpenter).

This is tops!!! I love this... The best gift I think is when your love would put extra effort to dating. No ordinary dinner or cinema tickets but something extraordinary.
Mine was when he took me boating and we went island hopping and then dinner by the beach with violin and saxophone playing in the background... I loooved it...i never wanted it to end :biggrin2:

For Christmas, I bought my boyfriend and I hockey tickets to see our two hometowns play against each other. He's a pretty big hockey fan but hadn't been to a game before. Also, I figured since he doesn't seem like the sentimental type, that he'd probably enjoy a live experience rather than an object. Since I go back to my hometown for Christmas, I drew a card for him and enclosed a picture of the tickets in the card. I sent the card to him and told him not to open until Christmas at exactly midnight - and called him up right before he opened it. He was actually a lot more pleased and touched than I expected him to be.
For Christmas, he gave me a Swarovski necklace with a heart-shaped pendant. He also gave me a "Happy Bunny" sticker which was funny and sweet and quite specific to us as a couple. If I explain, it's going to sound cheesy...
Other ideas that I've heard from friends:
- something engraved with his/her name: pens, business card holders, lighters, watches, keychains, mirrors, jewelry boxes, picture frames, watches
- dirty toys haha :P
- favourite bottle of wine/beer
- favourite expensive cigars
- tie
- instruments (depends if they are willing to learn)
- tickets to concerts/shows/musicals/etc

Don't forget the puppy! My bf and I have known each other for going on 6 years and we have been living together for about 2 and although we are waiting to tie the knot and have kiddos we caved into the "marley and me" idea and now have a cutie pattotie pup we can call our own :)
{this I would only suggest for those who can afford the hassle and $$ of a pup, its not for everyone. but for the right time and person it is the gift that keeps giving!}
