With a straw jammed down my spine,
you drink me up.
My skin is now shriveled rind,
a shroud for my hollow bones.

But if I sever your umbilical straw,
you will perish.
So I continue to let you drink me up,
and I hope you won't notice
you are sucking air.

At first I was kinda freaked out by the whole ramming straw through spine thing......nasty mental picture! As I read on though I think it's great.
I really felt the emotions you were conveying.

that is an awesom poem, i love what it is portraying. first this needyness and then you seem to be betraying/tricking. it works well.
