Wow. I haven't posted in here in almost two years, because I posted something in here the fall of my junior year and a certain member just ripped it apart. I felt so horrible that I never even entered this forum since.
But my usual song-lyric-critics are too far away, they both went to college several hours from me.
Anyway, I wrote this song about my boyfriend about two weeks before we officially got together. It's called "Miss Understanding," which was intended to be a play on words because he always calls me "Miss Julie" instead of just "Julie." I played it for him the other day, and he loved it, but I seriously doubt he'd tell me if it sucks. So let me know what you all think, but no verbally tearing me apart for no reason like the last time because I WILL defend myself. Heh. :P Imagine fast, three-chord I-IV-V vaguely punk acoustic guitar part behind this...
You "miss" me, but now do you? And why do I really care?
Your inadvertent compliments are more than I can bear
Your sweetness should disgust me, but I'm just not feeling sick;
Only fevered with suspicion at the perfect way we click.
Do you really know what you're getting into?
'Cause it surely can't be me.
But if love is blind, I gotta say, I hope you never see.
I find myself at four AM with a guitar and a pen,
Scratching down these lame cliches and wondering just when
You'll realise I'm psychotic, or too cynical to stand
But until then, ya got me, I'm right here in your hand
Do you really know what you're getting into?
'Cause it surely can't be me.
But if love is blind, I gotta say, I hope you never see.
In every other situation, I wouldn't give a damn
But you know what the kicker is? [b]You like me just the way I AM?!...?
*dramatic pause*
Do you really know what you're getting into?
Cause it surely can't be me.
Why am I not so paranoid as I usually can be?
I guess I'll just sit back, relax, enjoy the mystery
Cause if love is blind, I gotta say
If love is blind, I gotta say
If love is blind, I gotta say, I hope you never see!
