Aside from my privious post earlier called, "Should i always believe what people say?" I'm just going to ask this way.

Wether you hear from the girl's friend, or companion, that she does or does not like you, should you believe what they say? Even if it's her best friend?

(remember, I'm in highschool)

In general, you should just go talk to her directly. I don't care if you're in high school - a guy with the balls to just go for it will always seem more attractive than the guy who asks the friend, or writes notes, or otherwise tries to dodge the situation.

If friend says she likes you, then assume it's true. If she says she doesn't like you, assume the truth is unknown but then just go for it anyway. Since the answer in either case is "go for it" you can cut out the friend entirely.

I agree I wouldn't rely so much on her friends. The best way to find out if she's interested is to ask her to go to a movie or even a dance with you. If she seems interested in a date type situation, then thats a good sign.

A minor amendment to Kuky's very wise post:

If her best friend says she dislikes you, you needn't really put yourself through the trouble. There's a very small chance she's really insecure and ranting about how much she dislikes you because she thinks you're cute, but as I said... very small, and it doesn't really suggest good relationship material. Most people should've grown out of that by high school.
