The Angel's Wings
He made the mistake of giving her wings,
Free of burden, free to escape her sins.
This beautiful creature could steal his breath,
And tempt him into bound love and death.
She knew what to do she could have what she'd please,
Using her beauty to distract and to tease.
He made the mistake of setting her free,
Letting her loose upon man and upon me.
Came to my window she entered my heart,
But wouldn't come closer, she kept us apart.
At night she'd hold me and keep my eyes dry,
Knowing I fell for her the instant I'd cry.
He'd given her feelings he'd given her tears,
Why was she hurting seeing his fears?
Perhaps at some stage she fell for him too,
Now bound by love she had to be true.
No more did she lie no more did she hurt,
She gave herself with passion not flirt.
He made no mistake as she'd soon lose her wings,
He was going to give her pardon from her sins.
At the alter of eternal vowels they were at,
She stood over him while he cried where he sat.
As the beauty of his angel took all his breath,
She was to give him her life till her death.
Blood dripped from heaven as her wings fell away,
Knowing she could never go back to that day.
Knowing she was now mortal but loved this one man,
She never expected him to reject taking her hand.
Starlight was falling as the skies fell apart,
Clouds filled the air and pain filled her heart.
She was struck down so deep she couldn't see life,
As she felt like she'd be cut across with a knife.
Puddles of tears formed at her feet,
Memories flashed between each heart beat.
Her wings on the ground the acidic blood,
Mixing with the puddles and earthly mud.
He'd given her wings to do as she'd please,
Go where she wants to be with ease.
Now trapped as she loved someone who didn't care,
Choices she made she just will not bare.
He made the mistake of giving her wings,
Free of burden, free to escape her sins.
