The Love That Will Never Be

How can I make you understand
How you make me feel,
You make me feel whole
Only with you do I feel real.

You listened to my problems
Held me when I was scared,
You made me feel safe
To you my soul I bared.

You were always there
Through the good times and the bad.
You laughed with me when I was happy
And wiped away my tears when I was sad.

Promises made,
Kept and broken.
Our true feelings,
Always unspoken.

A beautiful friendship,
So very tragic.
The bond between us
Formed of the purest magic.

We can talk about everything or nothing
Whatever’s weighing on our mind,
Hungrily looking on each other’s faces
Though both of us are blind.

True love hangs silent
In the night’s air,
Though admitting its presence
We do not dare.

Afraid of wrecking
What we each hold so dear,
Hiding within ourselves
To conceal our own fear.

Yet longing to touch
To share a soul,
Though we each keep a distance
Mindlessly playing the designated role.

Not wanting to hold on
But scared to let go,
Pushing down our true feelings
So they never show.

You seem to see
Down to my very soul,
I had something missing in my life
And you filled that gaping hole.

I want so badly to tell you how I feel
For how else could I make you see,
That I don’t want this to become
The love that will never be.

This one is an enigma in many ways, which reflects love perfectly. Nicely written. Gave me a bit of nostalgia, myself...*sniff*

Once I started reading this, I just couldn't seem to glance away. I loved this as an entire whole, and I could relate definitely. Man, I am really impressed. (take that as a good sign!)
