View Full Version : Am I protected 24/7 when I'm on The Pill?

Ok, anyone who knows the answer to my question please help me out cos of all the information on the pill I have read, I have yet to come across something that answers my question.

I'm responsibly on the pill, my bf and I have had sex once before whilst I was on my period and we used condoms partly to keep the mess to a minimum but mostly on my part it was because I wasn't sure or not whether it'd still be "safe" during that time, whether I was still "protected" or not. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for safe sex, that's why I'm on the pill but when we did use condoms that one time it was terrible for him cos they were really tight, so much so that he couldn't orgasm at all and was quite num "there" afterwards so I thought "heck with this"

Besides I do like it better when we're skin to skin... anyways, so am I still protected when I'm on my period? Cos aren't they supposed to be just "sugar pills"? So does that mean they're non-active? Help? Thousand thanx for reading yet another pill thread (I know, there are lots around now, I apologise for adding yet another)

The "sugar" pills are indeed inactive, but I'm not completely sure if you are protected or not, so I'm not going to tell you otherwise. The BEST thing to do is to call your doctor and ask him/her. At least that way, you'll for sure get a correct answer.

Yes, DarkSeductress, you are protected. The pill prevents ovulation, so that means there is no egg. The hormones of the pill make your body think there is an egg, however, and that's why you menstruate. But yeah, you're protected.

When you're on the pill, you're protected ALL the time. The sugar pills simply induce a period. you are no more or less protected during your period.

I wondered about that myself... good to know.

Yup, exactly.

I wondered the same thing, because I don't have sugar pills, I just leave a week between each pack. But yes, taking the pill stops an egg from being produced, and that means you're protected throughout your cycle.

Condoms are horrible - they're too tight for my boyfriend too, and they make me itchy and sore!

you know how guys whinge that it reduces sensitivity in their penis and thus don't want to use them??

have a thought for us cut guys that already have well over 50% less sensitivity than normal guys!! i've used them several times and haven't been able to cum, trying everything and anything! it just takes away enough sensitivity to make it impossible.

we tried once for over an hour and half (of actual sex - thrusting) and still not able to cum. my girlfriend didn't mind sooo much, she had 4 orgasms during that session!! although towards the end she was getting numb down there, and it was sure to begin to hurt, so we gave up.

i'm not EVER recommending discarding condoms, as they are good for their purpose. but i just get riled when seeing uncut guys complain. we're lucky in that we're both clean and she's on the pill. if it wasn't for that, then there'd be no choice.

Thank you Thank Thank you!

I was afraid of getting responses like "I'm not too sure but..." and "If you don't know or haven't asked your doctor then you shouldn't..." blah blah blah...

But thanks!!!
