how soon am i protected after starting the pill?

hey there, i just have a question. i've been on birth control for about a week and a half. how soon can me and my boyfriend have sex w/ out using condoms? (We are monogamous so stds, etc. aren't in the picture.) thanks!

For every type I've heard about, it's 1 month from the time you start taking the pill, or from the time you start re-taking a pill (if you miss a day, you have to start all over again). I know, it's a long time to wait, isn't it? And I'd recommend still using a condom, because the pill is no 100% effective.

yeah a month is what i "heard" too, but on my directions and on teenwire.com it says a week..so i am confused!

It depends on what kind of pill you're on. Some of the birth control pills are safe after only a week but other kinds of birth control pills take up to a month.

I wouldn't say I'm addicted but I do watch it from time to time also :)
