Hey folks...

I met a woman about 3 weeks ago on a dating site. We emailed a few times and then she gave me her IM id and we have been talking every night ever since. I eventually asked "Would you mind if I called you sometime"..and got a simple " Maybe..hehehehe". I didn't really push the issue much because some woman just don't like giving there number out..but i have asked her twice already with the same answer.

She actually mentioned she wanted to come to my house sometime and meet me (she lives roughly 2 hours away)...which is fine. This week she is on a trip for her job ( she has been IMing me every night)..so possibly the week after or the next.

Anyway....I have been noticing that when I ask her alot of questions she replys with "hehehe Maybe". For example:

" When you get home can i give you a call" - Reply " Hehehehe Maybe"
" Are you interested in doing (what ever activity) when you come to visit?" - Reply " hehehehe Maybe"

And I could go on. The questions range from the ones I listed to general stuff like " Do you like Italian Food?" - reply "hehehe Maybe"

At first I figured it was some way of being kinda flirty. Now I am leaning more tward it being evasive. But anyhow it's getting pretty darn annoying.

I have even went as far as asking a question and adding "please do not say maybe". which I get the reply "hehehe Maybe" :eusa_doh:

I would expect this from maybe a younger woman..but she is 34..and I really don't know how to tell her in a nice way that I would love a straight answer once in awhile.

So ... is this flirty, evasive, or am i reading to much into it??

Perhaps a little of all three. How about asking questions where the answer can't be "hehehe Maybe"...for instance, ask her what her telephone is, or else if she's being evasive then just press the issue a little. Be a bit more forward. If that doesn't work distance yourself from her so she knows you won't wait around forever.

I second automorphism's suggestion. Ask descriptive questions, rather than yes/no questions. "What kind of food do you like?" rather than "Do you like Italian?"

"What would you like to do when you visit here?"
"What's your phone number?"
etc.

Thanks for the advice Automorphism....

I called her out on all the "hehehehe Maybe" stuff last night..and she said it was mainly because she knew it annoyed me a bit and was just having some fun.

I am still gonna take your advice on distancing myself a bit as well...and see what happens.
