One of my friends is on Orthotri-cyclen, and she has been trying to find out some side effects. She wanted to know specific things such as:
Are there many bad side effects?(nausea, etc)
Will her period be lighter?
Will her breasts get bigger?
Any answers I get I will email to her. If anyone has any answers I appreciate it.

okay, well i'm on that pill. been so for.. *thinks* almost a year now. so i think i can help ya out :)
first off.. about side effects. i get cramps occassionally on it. meaning, about once every 2-3 periods i feel them alittle. before the pill, i never got this... my periods are alittle heavier too.. but everyone else says they're lighter for them. i used to get my period for only 2 days, and now its 3. so thats heavier to me, altho its only cose the pill is regulating.
umm, you dont feel very sick on it, only (i hear) when you first start it, like, the first month. but then it goes away. the only time i feel sick, is when i miss a pill, and have to take both of them at the same time. but that isnt that bad either. my friend missed 3 pills, and took 3 at the same time, and sayd she felt TERRIBLE: but i wouldn't suggest missing/taking that many in the first place. so thats not really a side effect.
as far as weight gain went.. well i didnt gain much more weight (myabe a pound or two) and my chest DID get bigger.
hope that helps alittle =)

My only side effects were breast tenderness about a week before my period, my period became lighter with spotting in between periods and very, very mild nausea during the first 2 weeks that I took it.

I was on it last year. (health reasons)
As far as side effects.. I was a little bit more irritable, my periods were shorter and lighter, and my boobs grew also. Besides that, no really big changes that I noticed.
Which is why I want to go back on it, haha. (for other reasons) But I wouldn't do it behind my parent's back. :(

I've been on it for almost a year and a half. The first month, I had a LOT of spotting, but i guess that was just my body adjusting to it. After that, my periods began to only be 3 days (they were 5-6 before). But I still get cramps. I get sick when I take the pill, but I get sick when I take any kind of pill. I lost about 10 pounds, and my boobs stayed the same size! Hope to help!

the list of possible side-effects is long. most of them unlikely.
I was on it for a few months and I had breast tenderness, so I switched to Alesse, and was happy with that until I got on the shot.
Either way, even if she experiences no visible side effects, she should remember that being on birth control increases the risk of osteoporosis, so she should drink 3-4 cups of milk daily.

i envy anyone who only has thier period 3 days... i have mine for a full freakin 7 days... :-x
when i ws on it.. it didnt really make my periods heavier or lighter, it didnt realy make a difference and it didnt enhance my boobage, only made them sore the day before my period (no more sleepin on my tummy) .. it cleared up my skin a little bit.. but i never got like sick(throwing up) from it

I'm on Depo, and after a while I stopped having my periods completely...a DEFINITE upside. I did gain some weight on it, but I'm pretty lazy in the first place...if you are active you probably won't gain any weight on it. Same for most birth control. As long as you eat healthy and exercise in the first place you probably won't gain so much.
