old friend with rocky past

so i have an old friend whom i grew up with.. we were very close in middle school and started growing apart towards the end of high school... i kept in touch periodically.. then something happened that changed my view of him... i broke up with my then g/f and i found out later.. when we were patching things up to get back togeather.. that they had slept togeather.. i was hurt and angry ofcourse... i wasn't cheated on or anything because we were broken up.. but it happened like 3 weeks after the breakup.. and ofcourse i still had feelings.. this happened about 2 years ago...anyways.. im trying very hard to forgive him.. he wants to hang out because he'll be in town.. so i accepted.. any thoughts?

if you are asking abotu when the incident occured... not really... we had grown apart...

i don't see the problem then. if you weren't close, why do you feel betrayed? just because you were under the label of "friends," doesn't mean that he can't sleep with a woman you've broken up with three weeks before. sure, there are limits when the friendship is much stronger, but you've grown apart.

It would feel the same if she had done that with any guy. Thats a crappy situation, but if you arent with the girl anymore, and you two are still catching up then I think you can get past it to hang out.
